The comfort zone is a lovely, toasty, snuggly place. Why would anyone ever want to leave? We love to know what’s what and who’s who. Why try new things when you know exactly what you like and what you don’t like, ammirite?

Because, stepping outside of the comfort zone is the key to identifying your passion, learning new things, accomplishing goals, achieving satisfaction, and finding out who you really are.

Thats the why.

So why do we stay there? Because urgh, effort. That little edge it takes to push ourselves out of the safety of what we know is called motivation.

Here are 3 reasons why you need to get out of your comfort zone…

1. It’s stopping you from growing

In life, you’re either moving towards your destiny, or away from it. Because even if you’re standing still, the world around you is constantly changing, and opportunities are passing you by. Its easy to forget how fulfilling every little step you make towards your dreams can be.

When you grow, you become more than what you are now. You can be smarter, tougher, kinder, happier. But only if you experience more of what the world has to offer. Stop focusing on what you are or are not. Start focusing on what you can be.

2. It’s keeping you from your passion

One of the most satisfying moments of your life is when you find your passion and focus on making it your life’s work. If you’re lucky, you’ll find it early on, but some of us have to try a few things and figure out what we don’t like, before we get there.

The only way to discover your passion is to try new things, and we can tell you for a FACT that its not in there in your comfort zone. And no, Netflix is not your passion, unless you are the inventor of Netflix. Nice try.

3. It’s encouraging you to settle

Better the devil you know right? Whether its a job, a friendship, or a relationship, its super easy to just put up with what we have, because nobody likes change.

So we settle.

And the more we settle the less likely we are to take chances, or opportunities. And as long as the universe keeps throwing opportunities for happiness at us, the more we bat them away. So eventually it will just stop trying.

So what now?

Its easy, once one thing changes, and we start seeing results, more will follow. So start today, and change one small thing.

Do you always wear black? Throw on a red scarf.

Do you drag yourself out of bed 10 minutes before school? Set the alarm and make yourself a big ass breakfast.

Do you fall asleep watching Netflix at night? Leave your device downstairs and pick up a book.

Do you always say “No” when your friends invite you out? Say yes. Do it. Do it now.
