There is nothing more motivating and empowering than music. Music has the power to reach into your soul and lift it up when you most need it, it reads your mind and speaks to you, helping you to find the words you need to express yourself.
We’ve put together a playlist of our favourite anthems, war cry’s from the female musicians who have chosen their platforms to send messages of hope, to encourage us to be strong. These ladies, over the years, have made society very uncomfortable by embracing and celebrating their sexuality, & their femininity and redefined what it means to be a women.
Stick on some headphones, and listen up sisters.
Janelle Monáe, “PYNK”
A stunning visual display which celebrates feminism and sexuality and yes she is dressed as a giant Vagina.
Dua Lipa, “IDGAF”
Dua, refusing to take on anyones negative energy, and putting a modern spin on “talk to the hand”.
Madonna “Express Yourself”
Madona was highly provocative in her day, and her “carry on” made many a head spin. Today she’d been seen as almost tame, but that’s because she paved the way, and smashed that glass ceiling with her pointy bra.
Lady Gaga, “Born This Way”
A beautiful love letter to the LGBT community, Gaga is renowened for being an ambassador for the different, the quirky and those who are unashamedly themselves.
Nicki Minaj & Beyoncé, “Feeling Myself “
Of course we have ‘Survivor’ and ‘Who run the World’ but lets not be too obvious. We love this collaboration with Nikki.
TLC, “No Scrubs”
This song was an anthem in its day, around the time when women stopped waiting for men to come save them, and decided to same their own damn selves.
Queen Latifah, “U.N.I.T.Y.”
“Who you callin’ a bitch?” Latifa asks, having no time for that nonsense.
Christina Aguilera, “Fighter”
Reminding us all that heartbreak and pain don’t define us, but our reaction to them does.
Demi Lovato, “Confident”
A true fighter who owns her flaws and her struggles with grace, whilst always maintaining her confidence.
Icona Pop – “We Got The World”
The anthem for very girls night out, morning run or hardcore protest.
La Roux – Bulletproof
This time, baby, I’ll be bullet proof.
Bea Miller, “S.L.U.T.”
The title stands for “Sweet Little Unforgettable Thing,” but use it how you will…
P!nk “Just Like Fire”
We’ve lost count of the many ways in which P!nk says “F*$K you I won’t do what you tell me in her songs.
Lizzo, “Truth Hurts”
A great end to our list. Lizzo, tells it straight. Lets march women.
We made a playlist for you! Listen in here. Whats your favourite anthem? Let us know and we’ll add it in…
