Demi Lovato has always been up front and honest about the challenges she has had to overcome. Last March, she celebrated 6 years of sobriety, saying “So grateful for another year of joy, health and happiness. It is possible.”

Unfortunately, in her new song, Demi sings about a recent relapse, and you can tell that her heart is broken, and that she feels that she has let down those around her who have supported her through her journey, including her fans.“I got no excuses for all of these goodbyes. Call me when it’s over ’cause I’m dying inside,” she sings. “Wake me when the shakes are gone and the cold sweats disappear. Call me when it’s over and myself has reappeared. I don’t know why, I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know why. I do it every, every, every time. It’s only when I’m lonely. Sometimes I just want to cave and I don’t want to fight.” She continues,

I’m sorry for the fans I lost, who watched me fall again. I want to be a role model, but I’m only human.

Demi has shared her life many times, and her 217 documentary “Simply Complicated” is a must see for any young woman who struggles. She said at the time “I wanted [to be] someone that my little sister could look up to,”

Life is not an upwards track, where you improve, grow and develop into something perfect. Its a constant roller coaster of ups and downs, struggles and triumphs, and that’s okay. We applaud Demi for sharing her vulnerabilities, her imperfections and her struggles. As she said when she shared the video “this is my truth” and the truth will always set you free.
