Our SHINE Festival in March 2021 was a roaring success, smashing all of our targets with 40,000 girls attending. Over 80 incredible, authentic and badass women joined us to celebrate being a girl for 3 whole days!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be catching up with some of the speakers to share why we love them so much and why you should love them too. These women are joyful, smart, positive and hugely inspiring..

For today’s “Shona Meets”, here’s the incredibly talented Sarah Doyle…

Sarah, for those who don’t know you, tell us about yourself.

I am lots of things. I am a Mama to my son Billy, a beautiful 2-year-old boy. I am pregnant with my daughter who will be joining us in September. I am a wife to my James. I am a daughter, sister, friend. I am a little kooky but I find life boring when I get too serious. I love chocolate and coffee and I hate shellfish and being cold. My job as a life coach is one of the best things I do.

Could you tell us a bit about the “Better Life Project”?

The Better Life Project (or The BLP for short) is my life coaching business. As a life coach, my job is to help you to achieve your personal and professional goals whilst working on your confidence and self-esteem at the same time. However, life coaching with me is a little different; I provide ass-kicking, accountability, confidence-inspiring training, and strategies to help women create a successful, happy, healthy, positive, and confident life.

We know that you were a project manager in a university, when did you know that you wanted to change careers?

Almost straight away 😰 but it took me years to admit, and do something about it.

For those who might be unhappy or stuck in life, what advice would you give them?

Turn your emotion into forward motion. Life is short and mistakes are overrated. Do what makes you happy and figure the rest out later

Much like us at Shona, we know that you’re extremely passionate about women embracing themselves and having confidence. What are your top tips that you use when you need to give yourself a confidence boost?

Focus on building self-compassion first. Always focus on self-compassion. There are some simple yet powerful principles we can all follow that will help us to improve our self-confidence but these principles are irrelevant if we don’t know how to show ourselves compassion. It is so important that we learn to offer ourselves the same love, support and kindness we would give to others in their moments of pain and suffering. Building confidence takes courage and work and we are imperfect beings living in a crazy world. Mistakes happen and how we respond to ourselves when we do is what matters the most.
