The world seems to be full of inspirational speakers and self-help books. Its hard to find one who can really cut through the crap and get to the bones of how you feel and how we can all stop stressing ourselves out about things that don’t really matter.

Brené Brown is your only woman. Everything she says is relevant, relatable and realistic. Check out this really short video on empathy that even a five year old would understand.

In her book “The Gifts of Imperfection“, Brene talks about the many things that we worry about, and the things that we should be focusing on. As women and girls, we feel like we have to be perfect, that we can’t make mistakes, and that if we do make those mistakes, we can’t forgive ourselves, learn and bounce back. At Shona, we believe that this fact alone is what causes us to be fearful, and to sit quietly and contentedly in our comfort zone.

Below is a handy little graphic which sums up Brene’s thoughts on the thoughts we should ignore, and those we should listen to and consider. Lets make a collective pact this week to stick with the right list, and avoid the left. See where your mindset takes you.

Have a great week everyone x
