The Shona Project are recruiting a Workshop Facilitator – Join our Panel of Facilitators

 

Background

The Shona Project CLG is a multi-award winning non-profit social enterprise based in Waterford and operating nationally. Our mission is to educate, empower and inspire today’s Irish girls to become tomorrows strong, confident and curious young women. Through our school workshops, programmes & events and online community, we provide Irish girls with information, advice and a safe place to share their stories.

We are seeking a motivated and energetic, self-employed contractor to join our Facilitator panel.

 

Summary of the Facilitator role

This role offers the opportunity to work with young women and girls through the delivery of workshops and other programmes. This is an exciting role at a very important stage of growth for The Shona Project.

The role involves becoming an integral part of a small panel of facilitators that the Shona Project can draw on to deliver workshops to secondary school students, primarily in the North/West Region. Whilst we have an immediate need in the North and West, we are always interested in speaking to candidates throughout the country, as The Shona Project continues to scale.

The ideal candidate will have clearly demonstrable experience working with young people, facilitating workshops, and a keen understanding of the challenges associated with growing up in Ireland today. Previous experience of delivering workshops and programmes is essential. Leadership, interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills are a requirement. A commitment to equality and social change is a key success criteria for this role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the Shona Project school programmes
  • Advising on the development of new programmes or new content
  • Representing The Shona Project in the secondary schools we support
  • Creating safe spaces for the community we serve and following all of the Shona Projects policies and procedures.
  • All facilitators will complete a Shona Workshop training process

 

Key attributes of a successful facilitator

If you would like to work with the Shona Project you should have:

  • A 3rd level qualification in a relevant area (social care, youth work, education, mental health, etc.) paired with experience working directly with young people
  • Experience of delivering and facilitating workshops and programmes
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing young people, and specifically girls in Ireland today and the impact it has on their wellbeing and sense of self
  • Understanding of evidence based and informed approaches to programme development, relationship building and communication with young people.
  • Clearly demonstrable relationship building and relationship management skills
  • A collaborative individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and self-motivated
  • Demonstrable commitment to the vision, principles and values of the Shona Project
  • As travel is a requirement of this role either a full, clean driving license is required or access to personal transport to reach venues not regularly served by public transport.

 

 

Contract Type: The Shona Project will be employing the services of an independent contractor.  This role will be contracted by way of a Service Contract with The Shona Project for the delivery of workshops throughout the academic year.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
