girls shaming girls

Let’s be real—girls can be tough on each other. Instead of embracing our differences, we sometimes get caught in a cycle of competition: Who’s the prettiest? The smartest? The most popular? The most athletic? The skinniest?

And when we’re hard on ourselves, we can be hard on others too. Finding faults in someone else can sometimes feel like a quick confidence boost—but in reality, it’s just another form of bullying.

So, can we all agree to stop shaming each other for things that don’t even matter? Here are a few things we need to leave behind:

1. Appearance

Studies show that 51% of people have been bullied because of how they look. But here’s the thing: you’ll never please everyone. If you want pink hair, a buzz cut, a full glam face, or to go makeup-free—that’s your business. You do you.

(Okay, maybe rethink the face tattoo, but you get the point.)

2. Dress Size

Fat-shaming. Skinny-shaming. It’s all harmful. The size on your jeans is just a number—it doesn’t define you. What really matters is treating your body with respect and appreciation for all the amazing things it does for you.

3. Taste in Music, Movies & Hobbies

Love headbanging to heavy metal while your best friend is obsessed with Taylor Swift? Cool. So what if one girl plays jazz piano while another is into gaming? The world is interesting because we all have different passions.

(And honestly, if you talk long enough, you’ll probably find something in common.)

4. Being Single

Let’s get one thing straight: being in a relationship does NOT define your worth. Some people stay in toxic relationships just to avoid being single, but guess what? Your friendships, family, and personal growth matter just as much—if not more.

Take your time. Enjoy your freedom. And remember: you’re already whole.

5. Slut-Shaming

A woman’s personal life is nobody’s business but her own. The idea that girls should be judged for their choices is outdated, unfair, and straight-up wrong. Everyone has the right to set their own boundaries and live life without judgment.

6. Sexuality

Who you love is your business. End of discussion. Love is love. Simple as that.

7. Mental Health

For too long, struggling with mental health has been seen as a weakness—when in reality, it takes immense strength to ask for help and work through challenges.

We need to support and admire those who are open about their struggles, not shame them. Let’s make talking about mental health normal, not taboo.

8. Femininity (or Lack of It!)

Some girls love makeup and high heels. Others prefer sneakers and a bare face. Some are petite, while others are strong as Luisa from Encanto.

And guess what? Every version of femininity is valid. Strong, opinionated women aren’t “bossy” or “too much.” They’re just powerful. And we should celebrate that.

9. Social Media Likes & Follower Count

How many followers do you have? How many likes did your last TikTok get? Who. Cares.

Your worth isn’t measured by an algorithm. Focus on real-life connections, not the number on your screen.

Let’s Hype Each Other Up Instead of Tearing Each Other Down

Enough with the judgment. Enough with the competition. The world is already tough enough—why make it harder for each other?

Let’s support, empower, and lift each other up. That’s the kind of energy we need. 💕

And if you feel like you need to work a little harder to be a better friend to the girls and everyone else around you, check out one of our blogs on Friendship here next! x
