HUGE NEWS!!! Our talented, smart, powerful friend and ambassador Izzy Tiernan has just been announced as the best speech giver in the whole of Ireland! What a huge achievement 👏  🙌 and her speech was on The Shona Project 👏

” I am delighted and overwhelmed to be the winner of the Soroptimist Women’s National Speech Competition 2019/2020. The Women’s Soroptimist group set up this event to showcase the talent and power of young girls all over Ireland. I competed for my second year in local, regional, and National finals, finally coming out as the winner last Saturday the 10th of October.

I was overjoyed to hear the news, and we humbled that the judges picked my speech as the winner. I had to video my speech in school to be judged. My speech was written primarily about The Shona Project and the wonderful work we do. The subject I choose was ‘Empowering Women’, and I knew that the greatest example of empowerment I held in my life was with The Shona Project.

I want to say a massive thanks to Tammy Darcy and all the girls and ambassadors within Shona who supported me and cheered me on throughout. Without this amazing group of women, I never would have succeeded or gone as far as I did.  Remember: ‘We must lift each other up, rise to the occasion, and continue to climb.’”
