Hey Hollywood! What’s going on with this nonsense?

All hell broke out in Cannes this week when this poster for “Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarfs” was launched, showing a slightly curvier “no longer beautiful” version of Snow White next to an anatomically impossible, completely unrealistic cartoon queen.

If that doesn’t make you angry enough, take a look at the trailer…

The backlash has been strong and quite rightly too. What message does this movie send to the young girls who are already under enough pressure to reach sub-human levels of perfection. On Tuesday, model and mom of two Tess Holliday tweeted a photo of the billboard at Moretz. “How did this get approved by an entire marketing team?” she wrote. “Why is it okay to tell young kids being fat = ugly?”

The studio seem to imply that this was a massive mess-up by the marketing department and released a statement to that effect. The voice star of the movie, Chloe Jane Moretz tweeted yesterday, “I am just as appalled and angry as everyone else, this wasn’t approved by me or my team … The actual story is powerful for young women and resonated with me. I am sorry for the offence that was beyond my creative control.”

The movie synopsis does seem to show a slightly more positive angle but still, lads, you’re better than this… Get it together.
